When borders closed due to COVID-19, so many who rely on tourism for their livelihood felt it the most. Your Backyard Beckons is a campaign to encourage locals to rediscover home. Because in a place where the door is always open, we want to make sure our small businesses can say the same.

 
 

Imagination is a passport to anywhere.

 

Though NL had closed its borders to tourists during the height of COVID-19, it was important to keep the province top of mind so that when travel resumed there would be no doubt about the first destination on our target’s bucket list.

Waiting to travel was frustrating for everyone. So we gave our dreamers something to do to pass the time.

We encouraged residents of NL and neighbouring provinces to find winter fun in Newfoundland and Labrador.

As the province reopened, we welcomed travellers with optimism and a renewed perspective to seize every day.

Get into the right MindSet.

After sharing our philosophy, we created a deck of mindfulness cards to memorialize the NL way of life.

 

Visit the place that inspired Come From Away.

We wanted show-goers to know that while broadway’s ‘Come From Away’ is a box-office hit, the place that inspired it is an out-of-office sensation.
